High School Football Photography

Well, I took my new Canon 300mm f2.8 for a ride on the gridiron Friday night. Although I feel pretty special on the field during soccer games with such a big lens, the football field is covered with Canon 400 f2.8 lenses from the local newspapers. Nonetheless, it was a new and exciting experience.....and a little tricky as well.

Why was the football photography tricky?

Shooting with a 300mm brings you in very close, and tracking the ball is a bit challenging.

Also, it can be close to impossible to find your player of choice since there are so many players on the field causing lots of interference.
