High School Baseball Photography

Well, I tried shooting my first high school baseball games this week. Having played the game for a number of years, I was able to anticipate some of the action....sometimes, I simply got lucky. I used a combination of 2 cameras (Canon Mark II and Canon 20D) and 3 lenses (70-200mm f2.8, 300mm f2.8 and 300mm f4). I also played with my 1.4x extender on a few shots as well. You can see all of the pictures on my Smugmug web site.

The biggest challenge with baseball is finding a location where you don't have to sit behind the fence.

The Bridge to the North

Below are a few shots of the Mackinac Bridge in Northern Michigan. I normally take my Canon 28-200mm f 3.5-5.6 lens when traveling. See more Mackinac pictures here.

Never leave home without your DSLR

When I travel for work, I always take one of my Canon DSLR's. Why? Because sometimes you will have a once in a lifetime experience that cannot be replicated. For example, when I visited Seoul, Korea 2 years ago, I captured this great night-time shot of the historic gate called Namdaemun (Great South Gate of Seoul) dating back to 1398.

But, when I visited the same location this past week....I saw that arson struck this beautiful monument, and now look....nothing but a cardboard box. Yes, it's getting re-built, but it will never be the same.
