Well, when you can get out of bed around 5:00 am, you can capture a great sun rise. These shots are from Ontario, Canada. It's Ice Lake, just outside Gore Bay, Ontario. Although I didn't have a tripod (which would have been very useful), I simply held on tight at 1/40-800 second shutter speed, ISO 640, 28mm focal length and aperture F5.0. I also like grabbing a tree branch in the foreground to help give the pictures some depth.
I attended a Native Canadian Indian Pow-Wow in Ontario last week. This was a great experience overall and a wonderful chance to catch some great shots. I used my Canon 50D and 28-200mm f5.6 lens (my normal travel lens).

I carried my 28-200mm lens to the Detroit city fireworks a couple weeks ago. It's not the best quality lens, but it gets the job done for the occasion. I used my Canon 50D and held the camera at my waste and let it rip....primarily keeping the lens open at 28mm to capture the widest view.
